Vice Chancellor Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar address the staff and students
of the University on the New Year day of 2014

I would like to extend my warmest wishes to the staff, their families and students of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies on the New Year day of 2014. This year is a pivotal year for our university as the first batch of 6000 RGUKTians are going to pass out in the month of May this year and look for career and other options like appearing for competitive exams and further higher studies. The fact that we have provided a high quality engineering education to the highly meritorious youth of our state is a foregone conclusion, given our efforts and results.

My primary objective of creating an academic culture despite this large scale of RGUKT, by and large, has been achieved. There is no better testimony for this endeavor than our recently concluded student placement drive where the recruiters have said that they have found the young engineers who know engineering. This could not have been possible without the effort of our highly motivated faculty along with the rest of the staff in each campus. I am fairly satisfied with the performance of the teachers as well as other staff, but there is always scope for improvement especially at the administrative front.

We have come a long way after the initial hiccups regarding our ICT mode of pedagogy, prior to starting the engineering education in our university. Our efforts have paid off and now you can see calm and serene campuses with education going on very well, giving confidence to the 24,000 strong student community. I feel myself privileged to have served the intake of 6000 students and also instrumental in their transition from raw SSC pass outs to top class engineers. Now we can proudly assert ourselves in so many ways that we are precursor in whole of the country for bringing the necessary innovations to the field of ICT based engineering education, not to mention to match our scale.

The university is also working on issues like enhancement of salaries of our employees and filling up of permanent positions. The decisions on these matters are under the purview of the government and the Governing Body of the university and we are going to expect some positive signals soon. The medical benefits to our employees have been considered by the Governing council with some modifications and our staff at the head quarters is working on it.

Founding of engineering education at the large scale has posed several challenges which could be overcome although with a lot of hardship and some challenges still exist. No matter what it takes we should continue to march forward in spite of the obstacles and strive to enhance the value of RGUKT and RGUKTians. Once again, I wish you all the best and extend my warmest greetings.
