RGUKT RK Valley Students have been awarded the best project design prize in ROBOCAMP '13

Color Based Object Tracking Robot
About the event:

RGUKT RK Valley, ECE students Roopesh Paranandi (R081323), Manoj Kumar (R081301) and Sandeep Konam (R092616) have been awarded the best project design prize for their project titled "Color based object tracking robot" in IIIT-H's Robocamp organized by IIIT-H Robotics Club, conducted at IIIT Hyderabad from 03-08-2013 to 08-08-2013. The event was marked by Guest lectures and expert talks by eminent personalities in the field of robotics. Dr.Subir Kumar Saha (Professor at IIT-D),Mr.Abheek Bose(CEO of Robots Alive) and Dr.Madhav Krishna (Head of Robotics at IIIT-H).shared their expertise with the students.

About the project:

It's a color tracking robot which tracks the objects with the specified color. It is implemented through image processing technique where the web camera, mounted on the robot continuously transmits the information about the external world to the PC. Through color detection algorithm particular color is detected based on the pixel values and the robot orients accordingly. Position of the robot is continuously monitored through serial communication between PC and ATmega16 microcontroller.

Color tracking is a mature discipline aiming to define techniques and systems for processing videos from cameras placed in specific environment. Tracking a color in video has a wide range of real world applications; these include autonomous aerial reconnaissance, remote surveillance, and advanced real time collision avoidance systems
